Local Street Renewal Review – 2015

In our never-ending pursuit of trail connectivity and access for everyone, we have begun to focus more on the streets that start our journey. After all, it is important to consider what happens when people leave their front door. This year the city of Winnipeg is making record investments in roads. Since every trail starts at home, and since roads are public space (serving people on foot, people pushing strollers, riding bikes, scooters, wheelchairs and skateboards) Winnipeg Trails took the time to review all of the little roadwork projects that our city is undertaking this year (totalling +$60Million).

What did we find?

Lots of missing sidewalks.

Lots of important neighbourhood routes.

Lots of opportunities to make it safer to get to parks schools and major trails.

Have a look for yourself!  Check out the full document here (PDF).
