Overview

Under the Canada Summer Jobs program Winnipeg Trails Association is looking for an experienced sewing machine operator under 30 years of age. Applicants can look forward to working with a team of diverse people who prioritize developing a sustainable city through the lens of community and equity.

Canada Summer Jobs Program

“Canada Summer Jobs provides wage subsidies to employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public sector, and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years.” Canada.ca

 

Qualifications, Education and Skills

 

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.

 

Education: A degree, certificate or diploma is an asset but not required.

 

Weight Handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).

 

Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Use sewing guides and tension devices

  • Operate sewing machines and sew by hand

  • Hand-eye coordination

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to distinguish between colours

  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching and kneeling 

  • Knowledge of fabrics and materials

 

Accessibility: Access by transit and located on a bike route. Building is mobility aid friendly.

 

Job Type

Part time/Full time (up to 32 hours per week), flexible schedule, some evenings and weekends
