“In God we trust, all others bring data.”
-W. Edwards Deming
We all know that the trails can get packed in Winnipeg. Let’s prove it. This International Trails Day, Saturday June 4th, Winnipeg Trails is gearing up to count a new kind of traffic: one that includes people on foot, on bikes, on rollerblades, even strollers! We’ve applied for some exciting grants to help us make it happen throughout the summer, but we need your help! We need volunteers who are interested in spending a few hours on trails nearby their home a couple days this summer. You’ll get to use your smartphone. We’ll be gathering some neat data that machines simply don’t count – things like gender split, child/adult split, volume (bikes per hour, pedestrians per hour) and more! When it comes to laying the groundwork for more trails, bike lanes and sidewalk connections around our city, counting traffic is one of the best things you can help us do.
