Happy Trails — King Clement — RIP.
Fondly dubbed the “King of Trails,” Coun. Bill Clement worked hard to build an enviable network of fine trails for the residents of Charleswood. One of the first trail projects he supported, the Harte Trail, is now celebrating 10 years — and just last month, the Friends of the Harte Trail’s efforts were recognized with the Mayor’s Environmental Award.
Many a dynamic conversation occurred at city hall with the King of Trails who also sat as chairman of public works — in hopes of seeing more trails built throughout the city. He recognized the quality of life trails bring to a community — and listened.
Now, hundreds of new kilometres of trails and cycling routes are being built — and will be a shining jewel for our city and in his crown.
Thank you. Rest in peace, King of Trails.
