Ride with Me Series – Beginner to Intermediate Bike Ride w/Choi
Choi is a Planner at the City of Winnipeg and sits on the Winnipeg Trails Board of Directors. She learned to bike at an early age, obsessed over her dad’s Cannondale road bike, loved the 1:00a.m. commute downhill from Cremazie to Sherbooke, organized themed Bike Rides in Toronto and Winnipeg under the nickname Jock Dad, conquered an unplanned bike ride to Lockport, and got her first brand new bike not too long ago. Catch her zipping around our city streets on her tungsten coloured single-speed. Cycling through Downtown Winnipeg, Choi will lead participants along present and potential future bike lanes to discuss and gain rider’s perspectives on matters of cycling comfort, convenience, conflicts, and connectivity with respect to the design of Downtown bike routes and biking infrastructure.
These rides are for everyone and are particularly well suited for the beginner rider who may benefit from a bit of coaching. Along with a special guest and destination, each ride will include a cycling instructor to offer tips and tricks and make sure you are comfortable. Not sure the rules of the road? Wanna learn more about a kind of riding? Don’t know the best routes? Join us for a fun way to get familiar. If you can pedal and stop, why not take it to the next level and go for a ride?
Consider this an intermediate bicycle lesson disguised in a little adventure.
Q. I don’t have a bicycle, can I participate?
A. Yes please! We have bicycles, cargo trikes, tandems, and handcycles available at the starting location for rent by donation.
Q. I can pedal but not confidently. Can I participate?
A. Yes! We will go slow and make sure everyone is comfortable. We will take breaks and keep the distances short. A coach will be along for the ride to offer tips. This is how you can learn.
Q. I have a bike but it needs minor repair/adjustment.
A. Bring it to us, if it is a simple repair/adjustment we will help you on the spot, if a major adjustment we can take a look at it but bring it in early or rent one of ours while your bike gets looked at.
