Let's Add a Hidden Gem!

  • Rule #1: Hidden gems MUST be on a trail that is accessible for 8-80, by bike, skateboard, walking and wheelchair.
    Rule #2: if adding secret code stickers a bonus gem questions, please don't deface anything. Make them hard to find... Put them behind the plaque, not on it, duh..
    Rule #3: Have fun!

    TIPS: It may take a moment. Make sure your browser settings allow you location tracking. If you are not standing near your hidden gem location, or need to adjust it a bit, you can grab the marker on the map and make adjustments. BE VERY CAREFUL with this location. A misplaced marker will confuse ALOT of people. : ) Use known landmarks, unique statues, important buildings, museums, plaques, trailheads, special trees, skateboard parks, bridges... all make for great hidden gems!
  • Do not edit. Lat/long values will fill automatically and refresh if you move the map marker manually.

  • Give this Hidden Gem a name and an icon

  • (i.e. Statue of Louis Riel) TIPS: Keep it under 40 characters. The name will help guide users to this location. Be specific. Make the name understandable. You can get trickier later.(Remember, there may be secret code stickers or trivia question answers in the vicinity too that are much harder to find and give bonus gems to those who find them!)

  • Accepted file types: jpg, gif, png, jpeg, Max. file size: 10 MB.
    TIPS: Square, medium sized photos are ideal. Get creative. Try using the crop tool on a smartphone camera and weird colour settings. Here is an example:

    IMPORTANT: Leave this alone unless you have access to the database and want to manually make the gems "appear" at some point in the future. This is a field really for Core team to setup Gems that won't be ever be "Active" until they manually go into the database and make them Active.

    For this to take effect, the Gem must be "Active". The date when this Gem should become visible. Leave this blank to always show this Gem. Hint To Remove A Date: Incase you picked a date by accident, to remove it, choose another date and then the cursor will still be blinking in the date field, then simply delete all the text.

    The time when this Gem should become visible in UTC (More info: https://goo.gl/QGpQCU). Leave this blank to always show this Gem. If a date is chosen and this is not set, this will default to 00:00:00.

    Add up to 4 bonus questions for a gemseeker to find. Each right answer will be worth one extra gem for them. Choose a ONE WORD ANSWER or CODE only. Plaques, sculptures, trailheads and other words, information or things you can see ONLY while near the gem make great bonus questions. The best bonus questions are funny and not too easy to get. Its ok to start with a few easy ones, and leave really hard questions or riddles for last. Use your imagination! To hide codes in this area, ask Winnipeg Trails for stickers you can use.
