An undergrad in French & Social Psychology led Laura to relocate to France for a job post-graduation. The lifestyle (and numerous holidays) exposed her to the wonderful world of European public transportation and walkable cities. Back in Winnipeg, she continues to strongly value the importance of accessible and connected communities. As a new bike commuter, she was awed by the transformative power of the city’s trail system – being able to move through our communities at a slower pace (and without the solitary confinement of a vehicle) allows us to notice and appreciate the small things, feel engaged and connected to our neighbourhoods, and care for the environment around us.
Laura is enthusiastic about all things outdoors (except perhaps those that require hand-eye coordination). She loves the sense of joy, freedom and tranquility that can be found in running, hiking, biking, skating, skiing and paddling. As a customer development professional with an MBA in International Business and Leadership, she regularly travels the globe and engages with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. While these experiences continue to provide her with new perspectives and ideas for urban living, it has also strengthened her appreciation and pride for Winnipeg. She is so excited about the developments we’ve seen in Winnipeg’s outdoor spaces, trails, and services as well as its continued potential!
